Kim Bruce usually works on several bodies of work concurrently and elements from her encaustic sculptures will often appear in Kim’s encaustic paintings and the ideas and conclusions reached in one series will often influence the work in another.
For that reason most of Kim’s series are on going.
Through the use of materials from distinctly different sources Kim Bruce makes succinct yet subjective statements that reference the dichotomies that exist in our world and within ourselves. By juxtaposing these materials Kim finds bittersweet contradictions concerning the fragility of our world, our precarious position in the world and in turn within ourselves.
Ultimately Kim seeks to unveil natural beauty, to expose the private self and reveal the link between the internal and external landscape whilst translating her own inner emotions into the work with sensitivity and conviction.
