2009 – On Going
When I first started the Open Book series the pieces focused on the center spine. A central vertical line has always been prevalent in my work and has to do with having “backbone”.
When the series progressed to using actual books, the work took a turn. I noticed that all the pieces have been made inaccessible, closed off and un-openable.
The Open Book series has taken on the challenge of education for girls. I didn’t know this when I started. I work subliminally and what comes out comes out.
This work speaks to the fundamental component of all my series which revolves around women’s issues. I am currently pursuing a means to sell this work and donate proceeds to girls’ education. Please contact me if you are interested.
